On Monday December 7th my group held a presentation about "Going Green" at The College of Saint Rose. Over all I think that it went fairly well. I can never tell by the reaction of the crowd if the presentation had an actual effect on them or not but I hope it did. Our topic was about "going green" at Saint Rose versus the most "green" college in the United States.I feel like in this day and age it is really important to understand this issue. We posted a survey on Facebook that asked questions about The College of Saint Rose and its concern for the environment. We showed the answers to the audience in our presentation and also asked them to participate in the survey. My only concern about our presentation is that I did not really speak as much as I would of liked to. That was my own fault but my group members did well explaining our presentation and I hope that the class enjoyed it.
The other group presented about teen suicide. I found their presentation to be very interesting because it is a subject that is not talked about a lot. Especially in high school where I feel like a lot of teen suicide occurs. Their main point of the presentation was to make the audience more aware of someone who is suicidal. They talked about how it could be prevented if something is done about it. That something could include going to the persons parents, teacher and even calling 911. Also they talked about how this issue is not really talked about in the media. It is true, I never recall hearing about suicide in the news. They explained that it is because of the domino effect it can have on schools. This is why I think schools should talk about teen suicide more so this domino effect stops happening.
Since this is the last blog for the class I would like to talk about how it helped/discouraged me in some ways. Blogging to me can be very tedious and annoying. At the same time I think it is a great way to hand in a writing assignment. Especially for our generation, where all we do is socialize on the web with other people. It rarely takes more than 15 minutes to blog, so it is fairly easy. What I do like about it is that we get to see other students opinions on the blog. It helps when you are blogging about an up and coming assignment for the class. The only thing I would suggest is to make some blogs more like a free-write. It would make it more interesting and I think students would enjoy it more if they were able to get more creative with blogging.

Presentation Review
Over all I think both groups did very well with their presentations. Tika Tika was the first group to present. They presented about why kids choose to stay in school I was very interested in the subject because you always here about why kids drop out opposed to why kids stay in school. They took a survey on Facebook and asked students from all over why they opt to stay in school. Surprisingly students goals were the major reason why students stay. They explained that with this economy, kids are scared and feel the need to make a good living. They also had graphs and visuals to give the audience a good idea about the students answers.
The Golden Dragons were up next. They talked about how the drinking age should be lowered to 18. This is a very controversial subject and a very common argument. What I liked about the presentation is how they gave the history of the drinking age. They also talked about different cultures around the world and how they deal with the drinking age. The group definitely made good arguments about why it should be lowered. They also had good visuals, graphs and audio to add to their presentation.
